Integrating all RIS/PACS/Cloud with computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) technology in one product, VinDr PACS is a smart medical image management solution developed by VinBigData Joint Stock Company.
Many domestic clinics and hospitals are still using the old plastic film printing system for the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Accordingly, X-ray, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging cases still have to be printed into traditional films. This is not only a waste of resources, but also creates many challenges for the management and sharing of medical data between departments and hospitals. In particular, some information about the disease is not displayed well on the radiographs, negatively affecting the efficiency and accuracy in diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
From this problem, with the goal of building an intelligent medical image management system, VinBigData has researched and developed VinDr PACS. Based on advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing technology, VinDr PACS aims to support radiologists in managing cases, interpreting DICOM images, exporting reports, etc. The model can be easily scaled up or down flexibly to suit all medical facilities from clinics to general hospitals. In particular, the solution developed by VinBigData also supports multi-site diagnosis, performs analyses of multiple studies at the same time, across multiple devices. Products strictly comply with international standards such as DICOM/HL7/IHE/HIPAA.
Digitize the storage and management of medical image data
Instead of printing and storing medical image data in the form of traditional film, VinDr PACS connects directly to a hospital scanner, uploads image data to the cloud and supports access at any time, anywhere through a web browser without any installation or updating.
In addition, the system also helps the medical team at hospitals easily manage the workflow and the DICOM studies. With the built-in standard filter and advanced search tool, the list of cases will be displayed based on criteria such as ID, Accession No, time period, scanner type, parts, status, etc. At the same time, the cases with common criteria such as the patient code (Patient ID) will also be retrieved, supporting the search of the case history, in order to serve the monitoring and treatment of the disease. In addition, for the working process of hospitals, VinDr PACS is also an effective tool to automatically update status and synchronize with the hospital information system (HIS).
After finishing a complete examination, with VinDr PACS, radiologists have an additional effective assistant in editing, reviewing the results given by the system and exporting the report back to the patient. The provided report template can be customized to suit the rights and needs of users such as radiologist or clinician, etc.
Thus, the application of VinDr PACS helps hospitals accelerate the digital transformation process in healthcare, reducing costs, saving resources for storing, preserving and managing data. At the same time, this is also a new step to facilitate the sharing of medical image data, allowing doctors to diagnose remotely based on the original image, thereby contributing to helping patients not to go to the central hospitals but be still examined by doctors at the central level.
Improve the quality of diagnostic imaging
Overcoming the limitations of traditional film in displaying disease information, as well as minimizing the interaction of doctors on images, VinDr PACS provides diagnostic imaging tools, with a variety of operations such as recording, zoom in/out, navigate, invert, change brightness, measure density, etc. In particular, the system integrates a 3D view of Multiplanar reformation – MPR; Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP) reconstruction, helping accurately localize the lesion on three planes.
Not only basic diagnostic tools, the product developed by VinBigData is also equipped with advanced diagnostic support (CAD). Based on Artificial Intelligence technology, the solution is capable of detecting and localizing lesions on 7 types of images: chest X-ray, mammogram, spine X-ray, chest CT, liver CT, brain CT, and brain MRI, with a total of nearly 70 common abnormalities. The analysis of image data can be carried out automatically or manually. The system will mark the suspected lesions on the image, and at the same time, suggest the probability of abnormality for each scan.
With the variety of features mentioned above, VinDr PACS, when integrated with the artificial intelligence solution for medical imaging – VinDr AI, will form an intelligent and synchronous medical system. There, the hospital’s scanners are connected to AI, PACS, as well as HIS/RIS/EMR systems, so doctors do not have to duplicate the images and put them into the AI system like when using foreign AI tools. At the same time, it minimizes the disruption and dispersion of data among health information systems. Thereby, VinBigData Medical Imaging Center hopes to gradually deliver a comprehensive ecosystem, developing VinDr to become a reliable medical imaging assistant for doctors, contributing to improving quality of medical examination and treatment as well as enhancing community health.
