VinBigdata, a member of Vingroup, has opened registration for the sixth edition of the Vingroup AI Engineer Training Program, a free training initiative led by leading domestic and international experts, starting from April 1.
Applications will be accepted until May 15, with 70 available slots. The program is designed for final-year university students, postgraduate students, bachelor’s degree holders, young engineers, and recent master’s graduates in majors such as Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications, Applied Mathematics, or other relevant engineering fields from domestic and international universities.
Eligibility requirements include a minimum GPA of 3.0 and English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 65, or TOEIC 600. Candidates will undergo a three-round selection process consisting of application screening, entrance exams covering Mathematics, Programming, and English, and an interview with a panel of experts. Applicants with valid English certificates or those who have studied in English-speaking countries are exempt from the English test.
Launched in August 2020, the Vingroup AI Engineer Training Program aims to nurture high-quality technology engineers, contributing to the development of Vietnam’s core scientific and technological workforce.
Over five previous editions, the program has helped many young talents shape and advance their careers in professional environments. Many graduates have gone on to become university lecturers, secure prestigious scholarships, or work at leading technology corporations in Vietnam and abroad.
The program’s curriculum is divided into two main phases, ensuring a balance between in-depth knowledge and practical training. The four-month foundational phase covers core and advanced Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics, AI Ethics, and Generative AI, alongside complementary courses in Python, MLOps, and Data Engineering.

Practical Training and Soft Skills Development
In addition to technical training, the program equips students with essential soft skills and organizes a series of in-depth seminars related to Vingroup’s key technology projects. After completing the foundational phase, students enter the internship stage, gaining hands-on experience in a professional environment and participating in major projects such as developing the ViVi virtual assistant with Generative AI integration, the ViGPT Vision Language Model, and smart image analysis solutions.
Beyond practical experience, the program offers opportunities for students to publish scientific papers at leading AI conferences and journals such as EMNLP, the world’s largest Natural Language Processing conference, ICCV, the world’s third-largest Computer Vision conference, and NCAA, a Q1 journal in the field of AI.
Graduates have also earned prestigious master’s and doctoral scholarships at renowned institutions, including the University of California San Diego in the United States, the University of Pennsylvania in the United States, the University of Notre Dame in Australia, the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, the Singapore Management University in Singapore, and Tsinghua University in China.
Nguyen Ngoc Duy Hung, a graduate of the second edition who received a full scholarship for a master’s program at the University of California San Diego, shared that the knowledge gained from the program was invaluable for completing his undergraduate thesis and publishing research papers, which were key factors in securing his scholarship.
“Participating in the program was a turning point, opening many opportunities and helping me define a clearer path for my future,” Hung said.

As one of the program’s founding figures, Prof. Vu Ha Van, Chief Science Officer of VinBigdata, the implementing unit of the Vingroup AI Engineer Training Program, affirmed that after five editions, the program has proven its effectiveness, evident in both the quality of its applicants and its graduates. The number of applications has grown significantly, alongside the rising quality of candidates.
“Graduates of the program are highly regarded by employers, often receiving compensation equivalent to candidates with three to four years of work experience,” he emphasized.
The AI Engineer Training Program is one of Vingroup’s key initiatives to build Vietnam’s science and technology talent pool. Over five editions, the program has attracted more than 2,000 applications and trained 380 outstanding students, with over 80% of applicants holding national or international academic awards.
